Blazers Survive Late Timberwolves Rally

On Saturday evening, the Blazers took on the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, the Timberwolves were without All-Star and reigning 3-point Shooting Contest victor Kevin Love, as well as Ricky Rubio.

The game started out close and entertaining. However, the end of the second quarter was when Portland made their run to take a 53-43 lead into halftime. The Blazers continued to increase the lead with a barrage of shots from beyond the arc. The largest lead was 22 at 73-51. However, the fourth quarter was Timberwolves time. The Wolves cut it as close as 2, 96-94, with 1:30 remaining on a Derrick Williams dunk, but Portland nailed another deep shot to put the game away for good.

Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum both had 26 points off 5 3-pointers. Damian Lillard continued his outstanding rookie campaign for the Rookie of the Year award, tonight finishing with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. LaMarcus Aldridge had a near triple-double with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. JJ Hickson may have had an off-night shooting, but his rebounding was consistent. He had 2 points and 11 rebounds.

The final: Portland Trail Blazers 102, Minnesota Timberwolves 97
