Blazer Rank Midway in ESPN Power Ranking

Wesley Matthews

ESPN released their annual power ranking today, and the Blazers have ranked 15th in the league, sandwiched by the Dallas Mavericks at 14 and the Denver Nuggets at 16. Here’s the reasoning behind the Blazers’s ranking:

The Blazers insist Lillard, Batum and Aldridge are their core trio. Speculation persists it’ll eventually be Lillard, Batum and whatever they get back in an Aldridge trade. What matters most for now is whether they have enough depth around those three to crack the West’s top eight. We shall see.

Recent reports have suggested that the Blazers have no interest in shopping Aldridge, which I find to be a good thing. This seemingly puts the second scenario out play for the time being.

As for my opinion on 15: I think it’s a fair ranking. That puts us right in the middle of the pack, which is where I think we deserve to be. In regards to ESPN’s last sentence, I think we do have enough depth around our core of three to make a strong push for the last two seeds of the playoffs.

What do you think about the ranking? Is it too high or too low? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
